What do you think of Dance music including an increasing amount of guitars?

It sounds great, plus makes it less geeky and specialist - mooooore!

They're not bad - I'm not a massive fan, but they work really well in some songs.

Nasty, horrible guitars should be banned from electronic music forever

Electronic music with guitars in it

Just interested in the general opinion of electronic music fans on this. Parts of Dance seem to be merging with Indie and others are just using an increasing amount of guitars in the music.

Jean Michel Jarre use a guitarplayer in some of his concerts. It was Patrick Rondat who also use synthmusic in some of his music.

iv had to vote for 'They're not bad - I'm not a massive fan, but they work really well in some songs' as some songs i hear with them in are terrible then others i think sound really good.
i like electronic music and i like indie music, however when they are mixed together i occasionally feel as if somethings not quite right

Yeah, I'll agree with that. I couldn't think of many options for the poll, maybe I should have added that one. Groove Armada'a 'Love Box' album (for example) and Timo Maas's 'Pictures' are two examples of awesome electronic music groups who've started playin around with guitars. Both albums are great, much cooler to play in public than their other stuff, but I'm not so sure I get the same level of enjoyment from it. I need a beat dammit!

I know and Jarre is absolutely awesome and great and all that. So I like electronic music with electronic guitars on them. Sounds like a match!

Depeche Mode refused to use guitars for years, then decided to use them in Violator. Need I say any more!?

I agree - we don't need to say nothing more, just listen to Violator, SOFAD, Ultra, Exciter and PTA - now i don't imagine DM without guitars! (btw. do you imagine Daft Punk without guitars parts! - NO)

Guitar should be functional, you shouldn't add guitar because it's guitar.

Imho it doesn't matter what instruments they use, it's how they use them that matters.
